Reimagined Third Floor Becomes Reality as Hospital Concludes First Phase of Expansion Initiative
Northern Nevada Medical Center (NNMC) has expanded its services by opening a new medical unit. The reimagined space aligns with the hospital’s commitment to offer 100-percent private rooms and comfortable seating for guests.
Among the renovated space is a private bay for surgical patients. The area allows orthopedic staff to treat their patients post-operatively in a healing environment. Rounding out the new floor is a larger pharmacy that accommodates the medication needs of hospitalized patients.
“Our regional expansion is an important strategy to support the growth of our community,” said Alan Olive, CEO of NNMC. “We are mindful of the need for more efficient quality care, closer to home, and we are excited to announce this phase of expansion at our Sparks hospital.”
As part of a multi-year expansion effort, NNMC opened an additional state-of-the-art operating room inclusive of the most advanced surgical technology. Technology enhancements will allow surgeons to continue treating complex spine, back, knee and hip conditions with the latest tools offered in medicine.
The Orthopedic and Surgical Institute at NNMC is known for its nationally ranked quality and performance metrics. The hospital has achieved The Joint Center of Excellence Advanced Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement Certification and is named a Spine Center of Excellence Gold Seal of Approval hospital from the Joint Commission.
The completion of the facility’s new third floor and expanded surgical division marks the first phase of the hospitals expansion efforts.
NNMC announced earlier this year the groundbreaking of the area’s first freestanding emergency room. The new facility, located in Northwest Reno, will address a community need for better access to 24/7 emergency care. The facility will open early 2020.
