Northern Nevada Medical Center Earns An "A" Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group
Northern Nevada Medical Center earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns a grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, and the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.
“Northern Nevada Medical Center has a longstanding reputation in the community and to be recognized by The Leapfrog Group is a testament to our team’s effort to continue providing consistent, quality and compassionate care for our patients,” said Helen Lidholm, Chief Executive Officer at Northern Nevada Medical Center.
“The Leapfrog Group’s rigorous safety standards are designed to help patients make informed decisions about where to seek care. The Grade 'A' rating places Northern Nevada Medical Center among the top-performing hospitals in the nation for patient safety, underscoring its commitment to continuous improvement in healthcare quality,” said Elena Mnatsakanyan, MPH, MBA, CIC, Director of Quality and Infection Control at Northern Nevada Health System. “We remain committed to providing the highest quality care in a safe, compassionate and healing environment.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade is a significant accomplishment for Northern Nevada Medical Center,” said Leah Binder, President and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “It reflects enormous dedication to your patients and their families, and your whole community should be proud. I extend my congratulations to Northern Nevada Medical Center, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for their tireless efforts to put patients first.”
