Northern Nevada Medical Center Begins Construction to Expand Access to Care and Adds New Technology to Hospital
Northern Nevada Medical Center (NNMC) has initiated construction at its Sparks, Nevada hospital. The facility is prepared to invest nearly $11.8 million to improve access to care and offer patients choice when selecting a healthcare provider. The first phase of NNMC’s expansion will conclude in fall 2019.
“We are expanding with the growth of the community as well as the preference of the community,” said Alan Olive, CEO of Northern Nevada Medical Center. “Northeast Sparks is growing faster than any part of the community and we want to ensure our facility is prepared for long-term growth.”
The acute care hospital has long served the region, opening its doors in 1983. It has grown from a community-based hospital to a thriving health system now offering comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, as well as alignment with Prominence Health Plan and Quail Surgical and Pain Management.
The hospital expansion will include a 16-bed nursing unit and expanded operating room capacity. Additionally, the Orthopedic and Surgical Services Institute enhanced its technology offerings earlier this year with the inclusion of an O-arm system. This system provides advanced imaging for a variety of procedures including spine, cranial, and orthopedics.
Features already available include a 55-space parking lot that adds to the facility’s existing parking options and a Fast Track ER bay allowing for quicker and more efficient emergency care.
NNMC is prepared to expand its scope of services to the greater Northern Nevada region, and will significantly grow its primary care provider network over the next three to five years.
