The Joint Commission Top Performer on Key Quality Measures®
This award recognizes NNMC for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance for heart attack, stroke, pneumonia and immunizations and surgical care. In order to receive this recognition, NNMC had to achieve cumulative performance of 95 percent or higher across all reported accountability measures, on every reported accountability measure where there are at least 30 cases, and have at least one core measure set that has a composite rate of 95 percent or higher.

Northern Nevada Medical Center is accredited in mammography, CT, MRI and ultrasound/vascular imaging services by the American College of Radiology.
Emergency Services Accreditations
American College of Emergency Physicians Level 3 Geriatric Emergency Department (GED) (2024)
A geriatric emergency department is one that meets certain criteria to accommodate and care for the aging population. This model follows national best practices to require the satisfaction of criteria, including staffing and education, care processes, appropriate monitoring and improvement of outcome measures, and equipment and physical resources needed to care for this population.

Get With The Guidelines Heart Failure Gold Plus – Heart Failure Honor Roll and Get With The Guidelines Heart Failure Gold Plus – Target: Type 2 Diabetes (2024)
The Heart Failure Honor Roll was awarded by demonstrating 75% compliance for 24 consecutive months for required measures. The Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll was awarded for achieving 75% compliance for 24 consecutive months for measures including post-discharge appointment for heart failure patients with diabetes and smoking cessation for patients with diabetes.
Get With The Guidelines Coronary Artery Disease STEMI Referring Silver Plus for ER at McCarran NW (2024)
This award was based on the facility’s ability to achieve and comply with various metrics for 12 consecutive months. These metrics include arrival and discharge within 30 minutes of arrival, and beta blocker and smoking cessation counseling provided at discharge.
U.S. News & World Report High Performing Hospital for Heart Attack (2024-25)
This award recognizes NNMC's commitment to a higher standard of care for heart attack patients. Hospitals that earned a high performing rating from U.S. News were significantly better than the national average.
Joint Commission Certified: Acute Stroke and Heart Attack Ready (ER at McCarran NW)
To better care for its patients, the ER at McCarran NW follows a specific, interdisciplinary plan to continually improve stroke and heart attack outcomes. These awards reflect commitment to providing the highest quality care for stroke and heart attack patients and signify excellence in patient care, short-times for treatment, and patient satisfaction with care.
Mission: Lifeline® - NSTEMI Gold Award (2023)
NNMC earned this award by achieving a score of 85% or greater for two consecutive calendar years. Award requirements include providing a patient with cardiac rehab referral from an inpatient setting and smoking cessation counseling, and the evaluation of the left ventricular systolic functions.
Mission: Lifeline® Gold Plus STEMI Receiving and Mission: Lifeline® Gold NSTEMI Quality Achievement Awards (2022)
This is awarded for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association® for the treatment of patients who suffer heart attacks. The program’s goal is to reduce system barriers to prompt treatment for heart attacks, beginning with the 9-1-1 call, to EMS transport and continuing through hospital treatment and discharge. NNMC earned the award by meeting specific criteria and standards of performance for the quick and appropriate treatment of NSTEMI heart attack patients by providing emergency procedures to re-establish blood flow to blocked arteries when needed.

U.S. News & World Report High Performing Hospital for Hip and Knee Replacement (2024-25)
This award recognizes NNMC's commitment to a higher standard of care for hip and knee replacement patients. Hospitals that earned a high performing rating from U.S. News were significantly better than the national average.

These certifications recognize NNMC’s commitment to the highest level of care for its knee replacement and hip replacement patients. Certification demonstrates dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards including medication management and infection prevention and control.
Pain Management Center Awards
The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval in Back Pain
The program is the first in the nation to receive this certification. This certification recognizes NNMC's dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission's state-of-the-art standards. To achieve this prestigious certification, the hospital underwent a rigorous on-site evaluation by The Joint Commission. NNMC earned certification by providing compliance with nationally developed standards including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management.
Spine Surgery Awards
The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ in Spine Surgery
NNMC’s Spine Center of Excellence is the only program in northern Nevada to earn this award. This certification recognizes NNMC’s commitment to the highest level of care for its back and neck surgery patients. Certification demonstrates dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards including medication management and infection prevention and control.
Stroke Services Awards
Get With The Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus – Stroke Elite Plus Honor Roll and Get With The Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus – Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll (2024)
The Stroke Elite Plus Honor Roll was awarded for compliance of door-to-needle times within 45 minutes for at least 75% of applicable patients and door-to-needle times within 30 minutes for at least 50% of applicable patients. NNMC was awarded the Target: Type 2 Diabetes by demonstration of compliance for 24 consecutive months for required measures, including smoking cessation for patients with diabetes and intensive statin prescription at discharge for patients with diabetes.

With this advanced certification, Northern Nevada Medical Center has demonstrated that it provides the next generation of stroke care and has proven compliance with nationally developed standards for stroke care. The dedicated Stroke Response Team is trained to assess each patient to determine if they have had a stroke and to begin appropriate treatment options.
Weight-Loss Surgery Awards
Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) Accredited Center (2024)
NNMC was recognized by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), a joint Quality Program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), for meeting the highest standards for bariatric patient safety and quality.
Wound Care Awards
Healogics 2023 Center of Distinction and Clinical Excellence and President’s Circle Awards
The Center was recognized as a Center of Distinction for achieving outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, including a patient satisfaction rate higher than 92 percent. Being recognized with the Clinical Excellence and President’s Circle Awards required the Center to score in the top 10 percent of eligible Healogics centers, and achieve clinical and operational excellence through various metrics.

Healogics Center of Distinction Award and Robert A. Warriner III, MD Center of Excellence Award
Since opening in 2008, The Wound Care Center has been recognized by these awards seven and five times, respectively. The Center received these honors by exceeding outstanding clinical and operational results set forth by a patient satisfaction rate of at least 92 percent, wound healing rate of at least 91 percent, and 30 or less median days to heal.
Nevada Hospital Association Infection Reduction Recognition
NNMC was recognized for its efforts to improve patient safety by reducing or eliminating healthcare-associated infections. NNMC was the only hospital of the 18 Nevada hospitals who participated in the NHA's program to receive four separate awards.
